His admiralty practice is grounded on a diverse and extensive maritime career, a unique combination of hands-on marine experience and legal expertise. Before his admission to the bar, his sea-going calling culminated in his qualification as an Unlimited Tonnage Master Mariner and service as a freighter captain. Shore side, his maritime career has been augmented by his work as a port captain and ten year s experience as a marine surveyor, including hull and cargo surveying, casualty analysis, dock damage, and lay-time and demurrage calculations. In that connection, he has testified as an expert witness in several federal court proceedings. His legal practice encompasses general maritime matters such as collisions and allisions, marine personal injury, charter party disputes, vessel arrests, and vessel construction and condition disputes.
